Obama Picks Joe Biden: The Biden Breakdown

It’s not yet in the cell phones of all those who signed up to “be the first to know,” but CNN’s John King broke the supposed best kept secret in politics.[1][2] Traditional media one, Obama zero.[3]

Ali A. Akbar, Publisher for TalkStraight.org and Republican New Media activist was a lone voice calling for people not to sign up for Obama’s latest grab at information:

“It is almost idiotic to sign up for the SMS alert - don’t give Obama your information. It’s not like your email. This is your cell phone - the marketing companies don’t have a comprehensive list like this. Watch, this story will break.”

There’s one phrase the American people can now get used to:

I deeply regret any offense my remark in the New York Observer might have caused anyone. That was not my intent and I expressed that to Sen. Obama.”[4]

That’s the statement Joe Biden had to release after he said, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” and went further to say, “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” [audio]

After Obama intially brushed off the statement, he released a written statement:

“I didn’t take Sen. Biden’s comments personally, but obviously they were historically inaccurate. African-American presidential candidates like Jesse Jackson, Shirley Chisholm, Carol Moseley Braun and Al Sharpton gave a voice to many important issues through their campaigns, and no one would call them inarticulate.

Former President Bill Clinton wasn’t afforded the same forgiveness when he made the “fairy tale” comment no matter how many times he clarified. Obama and the mainstream media used this to exploit Democratic African American voters who were largely uncertain about Obama.[5]

Biden on Barack

Biden’s political analysis of Obama originally was, a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate,” and added, “I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.”[6]

Tense moments also came when Biden wouldn’t back down. He has enjoyed a decent favorably rating by moderates and even Republicans, because of his ability to put the country first, however this decision is all politics.

He slammed Obama for not holding hearings as the Chairman of a Sub Committee with oversight authority relating to Afghanistan calling Obama, “Johnny come lately,” in just recently calling for an aggressive policy.[12] One quote that will haunt Democrat’s bid for the White House is Biden’s in an August 2007 debate:

“I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”[13]

This pick isn’t entirely unexpected from the man who has run and failed to obtained the Democratic nomination twice.[7]

After more than 35 years in the Senate and an entirely opposite approach, stance, and level of experience on foreign policy - it would seem Washington has this election in hand.

The Race Card

Biden is usually all to comfortable in his own skin. Not only does he have the longest track record of putting his foot in his mouth, even longer than that of Senator John Kerry, but he’s been known to make other racially motivated comments.

More dangerous than a George Allen slip or a Robert Byrd Ku Klux Klan membership card - Biden has crude racial humor. In June of 2006, Biden sighted an overly-excited young Indian American political activist. On shaking his hand he said:

“In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian-Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”[8]

Michael Turk picks up the double standard between Democrats and Republicans on his blog.[9]

Biden’s made his thoughts known on African Americans and the public school system. In Iowa, Biden spoke to the Washington Post Editiorial Board:

“There’s less than 1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities. What is in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you’re dealing with…”[10]

Biden thought his chances at winning southern states, which lead Clinton to break Republican power, fared more than well, telling Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday:

“You don’t know my state. My state was a slave state. My state is a border state. My state has the eighth-largest black population in the country. My state is anything from a Northeast liberal state.”[11]

Clintonistas

After confirming that Senator Hillary Clinton, who received the popular vote during the primaries, was never vetted - Clintonistas might force the Democrats to defeat themselves.

Sources TalkStraight.org has talked to from PUMA, JustSayNoDeal, and Clintons4McCain groups are all in consensus that scheduled Democratic National Convention protests will go on. The general sentiment ranges from general dissatisfaction to rage of Biden being picked while Clinton was not honored by being vetted by the Obama campaign.

TalkStraight.org reached out to Christi Adkins of Clintons4McCain for a statement:

Furthermore, this will not only infuriate the Clinton supporters more, but most assuredly when this announcement is made at the convention will be a simultaneous victory speech for Senator McCain.

Senator Clinton was probably not vetted for the Vice Presidential nod simply due to the fact that her experience would far exceed Senator Obama’s and having President Clinton in the White House at the same time would overshadow Senator Obama’s reign.

No doubt, in the coming days, if the Clinonistas can keep the spotlight on the fact that Clinton was not respected by being vetted, expect Obama to play it off. He may go as far to say, she didn’t need to be vetted.

This will be a lie. All candidates must be vetted, not only to uncover anything on the opposition’s radar, but to see how the candidate will be handled by the communications teams.

It would seem “anyone’s short list,” didn’t make Obama’s own.

Thanks for posting the article, was certainly a great read!

  2. Snooper Says:

This race is so over. Czarbie might as well go back to Kenya and take his millions to help his family out.

  3. Stephen Kruiser Says:

If I don’t want to vote for Joe Biden does that make me a racist?

  4. Vinny Says:

A friend of mine showed me he got the text message. They probably sent it out because everyone found out.

I believe that with Biden being chosen it helps Romney’s chances of being chosen as McCain’s VP.

  5. Kenny Says:

Biden is a BIG MOUTH hardcore left-winger… I bet people are going to dig up TONS of clips of him running his MOUTH (like he always does). This’ll be FUN.

  6. Andi Says:

Thanks for the fantastic write up, and I didn’t catch what you wrote in the N.Y paper, and am sure no one took offense to it.

As for Biden being the chosen One, now that for sure is going to be interesting. Bet Obama wish he could put Biden in the position to debate against John McCain, as no way in hell can Obama stand up against John at all.

    Great write up again.

  8. JSewell Says:

I’m excited that he picked Biden. Obama just destroyed his own message of “change”. Plus, in about a month Biden will stick his foot in his mouth. Not only will this provide a chance to gain ground for McCain, but it will also be wildly entertaining!

  9. Vinny Says:

I can’t wait until the Democratic Convention when the Clintonistas revolt and hopefully tear the Democratic Party apart.

Obama / Biden - Two Plagiarizers for Change!

  10. Vicki Hampton Says:

The Media Trickle as the fiasco has been dubbed was a farce. I knew at 9:30 last night who Obama’s pick was by elimination. Obama is so obvious that it is hilarious. The only reason that he chose Biden was for credibility and I hate to be the one to spill the beans but Biden is no m ore believable than he is. It is sad really that Biden is willing at this juncture in political life to be bought and by a pathetic fake like Obama at that. I guess Biden figures that if he can’t be the Grand Puba then Second-hand Joe will have to do. No pun intended, well maybe a little.

  11. Ashley Says:

i’m reading a lot of talk without a lot of meaning.
of course biden criticized obama’s foreign policy experience in debates–that is part of biden’s strength, and part of the reason obama PICKED biden.
also, there is a difference between guessing who his VP pick was and having that pick leaked out in the media prior to his announcement (which it wasn’t). call a tight ship a tight ship. what does it hurt to give credit where it’s due?

  12. Scott Says:

Ali - you’re awesome. Now I’ve got plenty of beef for those local news station blogs here in St. Louis! The Obama campaign better brace themselves… cause if ya can’t take the heat, then get out!

  13. Carol Says:

Great article! It is such an irony that Biden referred to Obama as “clean” during the primary race. I guess he didn’t know about Rezko, Ayres, Michelle’s hospital turning away poor, Wright, Ondinga, Soros, Auchi, uh,uh,uh, and Mo’s disdain for white Americans. Do you think he realizes how much money has been paid to delegates and superdelegates, or how some delegates have been harassed to vote for Captain Zero? Does he really think that Michelle will let the VP have any voice in the Party? Democrats are jumping ship in droves this year and we have the DNC, Dean, Pelosi, and Brazile to thank for it. The Caucus system was full of fraud and mismanagement by the Obots. If Obama wins, it will be by hook or by crook, heavy on the crook.

  14. Tracy Karol Says:

I’d comment, but everything I have to say has been said pretty well above. Biden is an idiot, and he may have been the only one to say yes to the prom. (Although he vehemently denied that he would ever take a VP slot — oh, how things change — hey, maybe THAT’S the “change” they are talking about and we FINALLY get it!). With these two clowns together, at least the late-night talk show hosts should have a good time…

  15. gwen Says:

It is so amazing how people think their thoughts are their own, when in reality all they are doing is repeating what they’ve heard from all the talking heads on “CNN, FOX, MSNBC and every other main stream media outlet. This country has a problem with Barack Obama and it is not about being qualified for the office of President. Hell these are the same people who voted for GWB who as it turns out could possibly be the worst President ever. Main stream media is not about to let Senator Obama into the White House without trying make it about something other than race. Let’s face it, if Obama could pass for one of them (white) then we would not be having this conversation.
